The difference in training women vs men
We have different bodies
Different body make up
Different needs
Different energy requirements
Hormones
Menstrual cycle
Demands of daily life
Child, bearing pregnancy and child birth
It’s much harder for women to grow muscle than men due to our lack of testosterone and our large amount of estrogen
Women only receive a small burst of testosterone at around midnight
Sometimes not sleeping correctly, or being highly stressed, can affect whether or not we receive that testosterone
We need that testosterone to help us, maintain and build a little bit of lean muscle
Women are also susceptible to muscle loss and a bone density loss due to aging
Sarcopenia and Osteoporosis
This is why it is so important to grow and or maintain our lean muscle mass
This is why strength training is super important for women
Strength training allows your body to become strong
Along with creating healthy movement
And to strengthen and support our pelvic floor and our organs
To prevent injury
And most importantly, to maintain our bone density and our muscle mass
I always say it’s a scaffold for our bones as we age
A strong body is the new, sexy body
It’s also heart health and avoiding health concerns
It’s not about aesthetics
Talking about exercise selection, and intensity
Women naturally have the ability to have a higher endurance rate than men due to are muscle fibers
He allows women to respond to higher repetitions and a slightly heavyweight during those repetitions
Men are usually heavy and short duration
When programming for women
I look at their lifestyle
I look at their daily requirements
I look at their cycle, their age their children
They’re pregnancy their birth
The length of their labor
And we go from there
Stress levels and sleep will have a significant impact on Womens Health and what their training and Energy requirements look like from a day-to-day week to month-to-month year to year.
So they are all factors that come into consideration, and not one blanket cover, fits all.
