Why do I have to look like her?
Social Media?!?
What do you think about when I say that?
I have a gripe,
It’s the subliminal messaging that infiltrates the deepest part of our physci,
It’s the teenagers and 20 something (never had a baby) girls, flaunting their fabulous ‘perfect’ bodies.
Then it’s talking about how you can look like this too, it’s easy, requires no effort
Eat some lettuce, so this diet, do this next amazing fad, it works, believe me it works!
Blah blah fkn blah.
The biggest issue here is- you know deep down that this isn’t real, this is absolute bull 🐂.
This is photoshop, fake, airbrush out the wrinkles, the lines, add something here and something there… make my loose skin on my arms firmer… firm up my butt, so it’s perky.
The worst –
Sometimes 16 year old girls posing as post natal mums. 🤦♀️
This is across all sorts of media including magazines.
These girls are not mothers, and/or are not healthy / or do not have a long term sustainabile lifestyle / or they spend 2+ hours per day running, doing cardio, working out .. etc..
they do not have families, get to stay home and nurture our babies, and/or work as well.
It’s a shame it’s like this out there in the world.
It’s even more of a shame that it’s completely ingrained in us women, that WE NEED TO LOOK A CERTAIN WAY, be a certain size.
This reinforces that in us. It’s everywhere we look.
Every damn time we pick up and scroll,
It’s there, constantly beating you , wearing down your courage, your resolve, your confidence, your self worth and beliefs.
I’m sorry it’s there.
I want you to know for 100% certainty , that you are perfect. Just as you are.
You’re kind, you’re loving, you’re nurturing, you’re confident and fabulous, you’re an absolute wizard of a women!
Ask your kids?
Ask your husband/partner?
Ask your dlearest friends?
Ask your parents?
Ask your grandparents?
Ask me?
How do I feel better about myself? You ask, How do we avoid this?
It’s not unavoidable, however you can change your approach and take control back.
– UNFOLLOW EVERYONE who does not line up with YOUR VALUES.
Anyone who does not bring happiness and joy and enriches your life – unfollow
Let me remind you- you are YOU!
Unique beautiful you.
No one can take that away from you, except you.
There are many lifestyle factors that affect our journey to get to the point where we are ‘happy’ with how we look.
- I’ll come back to that.
You life is comprised of so many factors
Your demands of daily life dictate how much time you can allocate to the tasks you need to or want to achieve daily.
Everyone’s looks different
There are seasons of your life where you have more things on the go.
And seasons where you have much more space and time.
Remember not everything is forever.
Things change.
Quite often in our busy season there is no time left for you to nurture and nourish yourself.
I give you permission to take time out to do something for you.
Start small and the snowball effect can happen over time.
I give you permission to not fold that basket of washing and instead make a cup of tea
And bask in the sun and stare into the trees even for 5 mins.
Will the world end of that basket doesn’t get folded today? No.
Do you feel better for taking back a moment to honor YOU?
Yes of course you do.
There are many ways you can take this time for yourself.
I’d love for you to share with me how you can start to find time in your day for you.
Building self confidence and happiness, Is shifting the direction of the speeding train & slowing it down a little.
It won’t take long for these incredible habits to start filtering into your life, life will be easier. Things will start to change.
Remember these life cycles and seasons have their moment, and you can rewrite your life at any time.
Focus on what you want and what truly matters to you.
I don’t think you’re ever entirely happy with how you look, we are our own biggest critic, but I do believe we can learn to love the way we are, and everything that we do and who we surround ourselves with each day that leads us to a happy healthy and FUN EASY life. Regardless of asthetics.
